Speak Your Truth B4 You're Ready

We're taught to wait our turn, to be picked, to get prepared before showing up. What if that's not the best choice? So much in life will pass us by following this advice. Seth Godin teaches us to choose yourself. I agree.

Mrs. Wooster used to keep me in from recess for not raising my hand and speaking out. Eventually I learned to play by the rules. Then not only didn't I get a chance to speak, I got left out. I didn't get chosen, over and over again.

I'm regaining my old self. I interrupt (being polite and waiting to be called on still doesn’t work). I choose myself. I follow the beat of my own drum. Because playing by "the rules" and being "polite" didn't work.

I hope you'll speak your truth and not wait to be called on. Many people are happy when you're silent. And there are many who NEED to hear your point of view. You are not alone.
